Setup and permission help.
If a pause is not appearing, open PauseMind Settings, choose Overlay not appearing?, and run Protection diagnostics. Check your selected apps, permissions, and monitoring status. Resume or restart monitoring if offered, then try a selected non-urgent app.
Battery optimisation and phone-specific cleanup or Boost tools can interrupt monitoring. Review the battery settings shown in diagnostics. To revisit setup without losing your choices, choose Replay introduction & setup in PauseMind Settings.
Avoid protecting apps you may need urgently, including emergency, medical, banking, authentication, transport, navigation, workplace, school, or safety-related apps.

What is PauseMind?
PauseMind is a small Android app that gives you a moment to choose before opening apps you tend to use on autopilot.
Will it lock me out of my apps?
In normal mode, Continue becomes available when the timer ends. Strict Mode removes Continue, even after the timer finishes. To regain access, disable Strict Mode in PauseMind Settings, remove the app from your protected list, or revoke Display over other apps in Android Settings. Avoid protecting apps you may need urgently.
Why isn't the pause appearing?
In PauseMind Settings, open Overlay not appearing? and run Protection diagnostics. Check your selected apps, Usage Access, Display over other apps, and monitoring status. Resume or restart monitoring if offered, then open a selected non-urgent app to check the pause. Battery optimisation and phone-specific cleanup or Boost tools can interrupt monitoring.
Can I review setup without starting over?
Yes. In PauseMind Settings, choose Replay introduction & setup for a refresher, then review your app selection, permissions, and monitoring. Your existing choices stay saved.
Should I protect essential apps?
Avoid protecting apps you may need urgently, such as emergency calling, messaging, medical, banking, authentication, transport, navigation, workplace, school, or safety-related apps. PauseMind is not an emergency or safety-critical service.
Can PauseMind guarantee app blocking?
No. Android permissions, battery settings, device manufacturers, operating system behavior, and app updates can affect monitoring. PauseMind is a digital wellbeing utility, not a guaranteed blocking, parental-control, or security product.
Can PauseMind see what I do inside other apps?
No. It can detect that a selected app opened, but it does not read messages, feeds, DMs, browser pages, media, or screen content.
Why does it ask for Usage Access?
Android requires Usage Access for PauseMind to notice when one of your selected apps comes to the front.
Why does it ask to display over other apps?
That permission lets PauseMind show the pause screen above a selected app at the exact moment you open it.
Why are notifications involved?
PauseMind uses a monitoring notification while protection is active and can send optional check-in reminders. Turning off notification permission does not stop app pauses, but reminders will not appear.
Does my app data leave my phone?
Your selected apps, settings, pause counters, check-ins, and local insights are stored encrypted on your device. PauseMind does not require an account or send protected-app choices or app-usage history to Present State Studio servers.
Why might insights differ from Android Screen Time?
Android gives third-party apps limited usage information. PauseMind shows the activity it can detect locally, so totals may not match your phone maker’s screen-time number exactly.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Local PauseMind history, check-ins, and settings can be removed when the app is uninstalled or app data is cleared.
How do paid features work?
PauseMind Pro is coming soon; purchases are currently unavailable. If paid features become available, the price and included features will be shown before purchase. Purchases will be handled by Google Play, and PauseMind will not process card details directly.
